  Perhaps some have not discerned the significance of "I like turtles". Essentially it is a kind way of saying I do not find the subject matter to be of any interest and I think its kind of stooopid. There, I said it. Sometimes though its a respectful way of saying its tooooo damn long. (More often than not this is the case.) This particular post seemed to glorify drugs and provide a great excuse to take them. It struck me as another cult but clearly a more fun version since you leave your head and call it a revelatory experience.

  according to jw’s what qualifies you to become an elder and who does the appointing?

  Ok, so we've read the smart ass version of qualifications, now, what are the real qualifications.

  A willingness to serve others. (Amway or any other pyramid scheme will do.)

  Taking the lead in the ministry. (Meeting for service, making groups and then excusing yourself because you have a "pressing matter".)

  Cooperates well with others. (Schmoozes well)

  Has a boat, optional. (Has a boat.)

  Has a four door car.

  This cause is worthy of course, but there is one thing you can count on and that's politicians grabbing hold of it with rabid enthusiasm rather than measured responses. Mandatory bracelets are worthless in prevention and in apprehending offenders. Required living restrictions result in undue stress in offenders often leading to recidivism when their support base is torn apart by making them move into isolated areas. These same groupings of offenders become a danger to the area they are forced to live in due to the sheer numbers. Registration causes a burden on police departments because they cannot afford the thousands of officers to confirm the locations. California is moving towards reassessing who should be on the list because it is cumbersome and useless. I haven't read the law mentioned here but I hope it holds LONG LONG sentences and a fund for counseling of victims. These are the measures that will do some good.

  a brother wanted receive praise from other'sb wanted to marry thought having appointment would make that possiblec wife push him if he was marriedd pressure from other'se a career pathf possibility to dominate/control othersg he wanted to have appointment cause of love and wanted to help others..

  Lost in Space -Netflix- No spoilers.

  i have just finished watching the first series 10 episodes and at first i was just a little bit curious and not to sure about it however it certainly grew on me .. it deviates from the old tv series and has a slightly more darker side to it as well as being a bit more modern with life situations judy being coloured and adopted ,and john and maureen a couple with issues and the robot is just out of this world .lets not forget dr.smith as a female and more sinister than her counterpart of the tv series.. i would rate it 8.5 out of 10 .

  and look forward to the next series and hope that their is one because i definitely think it has a future .. anybody else seen it ?

  When the robot said "Danger Will Robinson" at the end of the first episode I was so excited! I yelled, "Yeah!" and sniffled a little. It's not perfect but neither was the original series. The new Dr. Smith is true evil and my personal hero. She moves the story along, otherwise it might just be too vanilla.

  Like all situations, each family practices things in the JW world according to their own dysfunction. My mother's memorial brought out a softness in the family towards my disfellowshipped brother, who is a truly evil person. He was allowed at the home afterwards as well. This I know is not typical, but it happens. Its the one time I wished they kept the disfellowship rule, oddly enough.

  You might be a Jehovah's Witness if.......

  you might be a jehovah's witness if, to not feel guilty on saturday morning, you ride in a car with a group of adults driving in circles around town taking turns to get out one at a time to knock on a door that you hoped no one would answer.. you might be a jw if going on vacation meant going to a summer regional or district assembly where you did not need to pack shorts, tennis shoes, or tank tops.

  you might be a jw if for lunch at the summer convention you and your family ate breakfast food from the holiday inn where you are staying for the summer assembly.. you might be a jw if the first thing that you think about when waking up in the morning is that it is meeting night.. you might be a jw if you introduce a person to another jw, not by the person's name by as my bible study.. you might be a jw if you don't celebrate christmas but will take the money from your employer to not come to work so that you can celebrate it..

  What does Two witness mean for child abuse?

  i am not a jw.

  my mother in law is.

  my husband is not a jw, but he did attend with her through his child years and teen years but stopped once he was 15. his mother never made him or his siblings attend if they did not want to.i am trying to understand this organization to understand my mother in law better.

  Your mother in-law would be told its propaganda from Satan.

  It means injustice. There must be two witnesses to an accusation, as per a warped biblical interpretation. (Almost never happens). Unless there are two witnesses to the molestation there can be no action of censure by the congregation toward the accused. This results in the vilification of the accuser if they refuse the counsel to NOT talk about it again, instead they are told to wait on God for justice because "He knows". This is true no matter how old the victim is. Until recently Elders did not report to police any accusation. They still are told to call the headquarters legal department for advice before acting on any accusation.
  

  Often victims who speak out are expelled from the congregation and perpetrators go unidentified or expelled. Go to YouTube and search Australian Royal Commission on Child Abuse. It will shock you.

  My JW Elder Brother Passed Away

  he was basically a good man, just a believer in the religion.

  when we were both elders we were best of friends and then things deteriorated when i was not an elder for a while.

  then after becoming an elder again, i slowly drifted away from the religion and he drifted further away from me.
